As part of his work tour in the Chiriquí province, the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, handed over the new Specialized Polyclinic of the Social Security Fund (CSS) to the residents of the David district. This modern health center, named after Dr. Rodrigo Hidalgo, is designed to expand and improve medical care for more than 140,000 people in the area, incorporating a wide range of specialties and advanced technological equipment. CSS Director Dino Mon highlighted that the new facilities replace the Local Primary Health Care Unit (ULAPS) in Nuevo Vedado, which had limitations in the variety of specialties offered. The new Specialized Polyclinic, located in the David Sur district, offers a significant expansion of health services available to the people of David, including: Medical Specialties: General medicine, internal medicine, dermatology, general surgery, geriatrics, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics, urology, orthopedics, and ophthalmology. Support and Diagnostic Services: Pharmacy, central equipment, clinical laboratory, radiology, nursing, emergency services, and outpatient operating rooms. Preventive Programs: Prevention programs, diabetes clinic, primary care, epidemiology, maternal and child health, nutrition, early stimulation, occupational psychology, and a clinic for the elderly and adult health. Of particular importance is the hemodialysis room adjacent to the polyclinic, which has 35 chairs for patient treatment, offering a great benefit to the area's inhabitants. The medical center is equipped with modern diagnostic equipment, such as ultrasound, mammography, X-rays, CT scans, and MRI, which will allow for more precise and faster diagnoses. The polyclinic was designed with patient comfort and accessibility in mind, featuring accessible routes, transportation, a chapel, and air-conditioned areas. The handover ceremony was attended by local authorities such as Governor Aixa Santamaría, ministers of state, and family members of Dr. Rodrigo Hidalgo. Currently, it operates from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on weekdays, with plans for future expansion of hours.
