Authorities hope that the investigation will lead to the whereabouts of the individuals who took the security agent's life.
The scene was discovered when personnel noticed that the agent was not responding. During the violent incident, the guard was shot in the chest area, with his body remaining inside the facility.
A security guard identified as Bernardo Sánchez, 56 years old, was murdered inside a mill located in the San Pablo sector, David district, Chiriquí province.
National Police units, along with agents from the Judicial Investigation Directorate (DIJ) and Criminalistics experts, arrived at the scene to cordon off the area for evidence collection and the initiation of corresponding procedures.
According to unofficial information, unknown individuals entered the mill with the intention of stealing the firearm from the security guard.
So far this year, a total of 14 crimes have been reported in the province of Chiriquí.
