During the first four days of the Christmas operation conducted by the Authority for Consumer Protection and Competition Defense (Acodeco), a total of 111 reports have been filed for various anomalies detected in commercial establishments nationwide. Simultaneously, institutional staff are deploying across the country to check expiration dates on perishable products, price visibility, and the proper functioning of scanners and scales at points of sale. According to the report, 46 reports were for violations of advertising truthfulness laws, while Law 45 of 2007, which covers expired products and lack of visible prices, registered 56 infractions. Other detected irregularities include: 10 reports for violating Executive Decree No. 28 of June 30, 2025, on price controls; 6 reports related to the use of reusable bags under Law 1 of 2018; and 5 reports for violations of Law 6 of 1987 regarding discounts for the elderly and pensioners. Acodeco reminded citizens that every new product has a non-negotiable legal warranty that takes effect upon delivery. Consumers were also advised to test products immediately after receiving them and to keep the original packaging for the first few weeks. In cases where a business cannot deliver a good previously paid for due to reasons attributable to the establishment, the consumer has the guaranteed right to a full refund of their money. In this regard, Ramón Abadi Balid emphasized the importance of requesting and keeping the invoice, an indispensable document for any subsequent claims process. Consumers can make inquiries or file complaints via WhatsApp and Telegram at number 6330-3333, through the official social media profiles @AcodecoPma, and on the institution's official web portal.
