Drake University, a private U.S. institution with 144 years of history, has launched a new academic program in Panama focused on data analysis and artificial intelligence. The university has established a base at Ciudad del Saber to offer accelerated and exchange programs focused on data analytics and emerging technologies. Students can opt for a Bachelor of Science in Data Analysis with a specialization in artificial intelligence, completing a three-year accelerated program entirely in Panama or selecting an exchange program that concludes studies at the Des Moines, Iowa campus. After signing a formal agreement with the Ciudad del Saber Foundation, the university joins as an affiliated member to offer specialized training that addresses the growing global demand for professionals in advanced technological fields. Applications for these programs will begin in August 2026, with classes scheduled to start in August 2027. The university maintains a historical relationship with Panama through exchange programs and the training of business leaders. It has also established a cooperation agreement with the National Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Senacyt) to support Panama's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, fostering the development of a world-class talent pool in emerging technologies. The university highlights that its graduates in data analysis achieve a high return on investment, with average salaries reaching $74,000 annually one year after graduating in 2023. As an affiliated member of Ciudad del Saber, Drake University will integrate its programs into a research and entrepreneurship center that facilitates access to NGOs, tech startups, and potential employers. The 2+2 program allows students to complete the first two years in Panama and finish the final two years at the main campus in the U.S. As part of its expansion, Drake has formalized partnerships for internships with organizations such as Motta Internacional and Banco General. The 3-Year Accelerated Program + allows students to complete a bachelor's degree and a specialization in artificial intelligence in three years and one summer, including a guaranteed internship with leading companies in the country.
