In Panama, the Indicasat AIP scientific research institute was officially designated as a "Center of Excellence in Transformative Technologies." This event took place at an official ceremony at the Panama Convention Center. Panama has now become the seventh country in the region to join this specialized network, which also includes Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil, each focusing on strategic areas like blockchain, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology. Dr. Ortega BarrĂa highlighted that Indicasat AIP is not only one of the country's most consolidated public interest associations but also a fundamental platform for human capital formation and knowledge generation with a direct impact on biotechnology and productive innovation. Its contributions in bioinformatics and bioprospecting have positioned Panama as a reliable actor within international scientific networks. Dr. Timothy Thomson, director of Indicasat AIP, emphasized that this recognition is the result of more than two decades of sustained effort and reflects the commitment of the researchers who have built the institution. Panama joins the OAS Regional Network in Transformative Technologies. Through an agreement signed by Senacyt and the OAS, the Panamanian institute becomes a benchmark for the exchange of scientific knowledge and solutions to global strategic challenges. This system aims to integrate the most advanced sciences to find joint solutions to strategic challenges through shared knowledge among strategic partners and non-governmental organizations. The event also featured Carlos Guevara Mann, Vice Minister of Multilateral Affairs and Cooperation, and Ana Irene Delgado, Ambassador of Panama to the OAS, who reaffirmed the state's support for this initiative that elevates the nation's scientific profile.
