Acodeco intensifies verifications at gas stations nationwide

The Authority for Consumer Protection and Competition Defense (Acodeco) has deployed a technical inspection operation at various gas stations nationwide. The primary objective of these actions is to ensure that consumers receive accurate information and pay the exact amount for the product, in strict compliance with Law 45 of 2007 and Technical Regulation DGNTI-COPANIT 51-2005. Amid the instability generated by the conflict in the Middle East and its direct impact on the international cost of oil, Acodeco has redoubled its vigilance to prevent speculative practices. The Metrology team is in charge of verifying that the pumps at gas stations are correctly calibrated, in addition to carrying out measurements to detect possible water levels in the storage tanks. Inspections include the review of security seals, the updating of fuel and lubricant price boards, and the verification that the product denomination corresponds to what is offered to the public. The institution reminds citizens that there are driving habits that allow optimizing the vehicle's performance, such as maintaining adequate tire pressure, avoiding sudden braking, not overloading the car, and performing periodic maintenance of filters and spark plugs. It is also recommended to plan routes to avoid traffic congestion. To report any irregularities detected at gas stations, consumers have the telephone line 510-1300, the email info@acodeco.gob.pa, the official web portal, and the citizen attention line 311 at their disposal.
