Acodeco secures return of over 4,500 balboas in Snowland Panama case

Panamanian authorities have announced the return of B/.4,548.57 to consumers affected by irregularities at the Snowland Panamá event. According to official reports, the Authority for Consumer Protection and Defense of Competition (Acodeco) received a total of 31 formal complaints. Of these, 27 cases have been definitively resolved, allowing consumers to recover their financial investment. The entity stated that the administrative process continues, as four complaints are still pending, representing an additional amount of B/.808.68. The conflict related to Snowland Panamá gained public attention in December 2025. Attendees reported that the in-person experience did not match the expectations generated by digital advertising. Investigations indicate that part of the promotional material was allegedly designed using artificial intelligence tools, creating an offer that was not fulfilled during the event's development. Due to these discrepancies, Acodeco initiated an official investigation to verify the truthfulness of the advertisements and quantify the extent of the harm to users, under the protection of Law 45 of 2007. This Panamanian regulation establishes the obligation of economic agents to provide truthful and transparent information in the national market. The national director of Consumer Protection, Saúl Jaramillo, highlighted that the institutional strategy allowed 27 families to get their money back. With these actions, the authority reaffirms its role in monitoring compliance with current regulations and protecting citizens' rights in consumer relations.
