Panama's National Authority of Public Services confirms that a public tender will be held this year to add a new mobile phone company to the national market. The announcement was made during the launch of an institutional microsite designed specifically to provide technical and statistical information about the mobile phone market to interested investors. The new information portal serves as a promotional showcase detailing the country's conditions for advancing the public tender process. It also facilitates access to current legal regulations and general documentation about the tender process that will be carried out in the coming months. The administrator of ASEP emphasized that the institution is working comprehensively to transform public services, ensuring that the telecommunications sector not only evolves in mobile telephony but also in other related technological services for the benefit of citizens. According to ASEP statistics at the end of 2025, Panama has over 5 million active lines. Of this total, 4 million (79%) belong to the prepaid segment, while 1 million (21%) correspond to the postpaid segment. These figures, along with a number portability rate of 5.5 million since 2011, represent a high attraction for the arrival of a third mobile operator that will dynamize the sector's competitive dynamics.
