SONDA, Financial Administrator of the Integrated Transportation System of the Panama metropolitan area, has announced the arrival in the country of new validators that will integrate the next phase of modernization of the public transport payment system.
Once the devices complete the software preparation and certification processes, their gradual installation will begin in the buses, MiBus Fare Zones, and at all stations of the Panama Metro lines.
This technology is part of a robust architecture aimed at simplifying top-up processes and optimizing the use of the mobility system. According to VĂctor Betancourt, General Manager of SONDA Panama and Guatemala, the incorporation of these validators is a fundamental step towards an efficient, modern, and user-centric payment system, allowing it to respond to current dynamics of urban mobility.
SONDA, which has managed the fare collection system in Panama City for over 14 years, seeks with this infrastructure to facilitate the integration of different transport modes under a unified and digitized technological platform.
The implementation of these teams opens the possibility for other national transport operators to join the digital collection system, which would increase financial inclusion in various regions of Panama. With this advance, the public transport system aligns with global mobility trends, offering passengers a more agile and flexible travel experience, while paving the way for future technological solutions in the sector.
