The International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP) is preparing to receive delegations from various schools across the country for its upcoming Open House, scheduled for April 24, 2026. The main objective of this event is to allow future high school graduates to closely learn about the specialized academic offerings in the maritime, port, logistics, and coastal marine sectors. During the activity, visitors will take guided tours of the facilities, laboratories, and the UMIP Center of Simulators and Applied Technologies (CSTA). Roberto Aparicio, the institution's academic vice-rector, explained that work is currently underway to update all study plans. This integration allows for the incorporation of the latest international regulations and technologies into the classrooms, facilitating a smooth transition for students into the job market. In terms of employability, Aparicio stated that the university's internal studies show an employment rate ranging from 90% to 95%. UMIP has consolidated a unique educational ecosystem in the region through strategic alliances with 15 of the most important companies in the maritime and logistics sector. These visits will allow students to firsthand see how the institution prioritizes constant updating, professional practice, and direct hiring in the sector. For the 2026 academic period, the university received an approximate population of 1,700 students, of which more than 400 are midshipmen and new students, reaffirming its position as a key training center for the development of the Panamanian logistics hub.
