Nestlé Drives Generational Renewal with Virtual Courses for Young Coffee Growers

Nestlé has announced the launch of a new phase of its 'Young Coffee Growers' program, an initiative integrated into the 'Nescafé Plan' aimed at promoting a more efficient, inclusive, and regenerative production to ensure the sector's continuity.

Regional Impact and Educational Reach Since its creation in 2019, the program has trained over 60,000 people in 21 nations. The Nescafé Plan strengthens sustainable coffee farming through the 'Young Coffee Growers' initiative. The initiative seeks to curb rural migration by providing leadership and entrepreneurship tools to over 23,000 young people in Central America. According to an executive, strengthening technical capabilities generates concrete opportunities for a more resilient and inclusive development in the region.

Success Stories and Transformation The program has allowed for the emergence of local leadership, as is the case of Lesly Argueta, who took over the management of her family farm five years ago. Argueta highlighted that thanks to the tools obtained from 'Young Coffee Growers,' she managed to diversify her production and lead transformation processes, overcoming gender barriers and a lack of specialized knowledge she initially faced in her community.

Registrations for these free training cycles remain continuously open through the initiative's official channel on the social network Facebook. For 2026, the organization has arranged for virtual courses to be available permanently throughout the year, facilitating access to technical and management training.

Technical Training and Regenerative Agriculture The program's academic curriculum, supported by partners such as Swisscontact and CoHonducafé, focuses on strengthening participants' capabilities in critical areas for the coffee value chain. Key topics include: • Regenerative agriculture and crop nutrient management. • Phytosanitary control, harvesting, and post-harvest processes. • Grain quality, tasting techniques, and barista skills. • Development of soft skills, leadership, and economic empowerment.

Kim Waigel, Marketing Director for Nestlé Central America, stated in the third person that the company maintains the conviction that the future of this activity depends directly on the new generations. With this action, Nestlé reaffirms its strategy of supporting generational renewal and the sustainability of food systems.
