The new Metropolitan Theater opens in Panama City, offering a modern space for 250 people and advanced technology to boost the production of national shows.

The Panamanian artistic community is celebrating the opening of a new, modern cultural space in the heart of the city: the Metropolitan Theater. This venue, designed to strengthen the country's theatrical landscape, offers a capacity for 250 people and is equipped with cutting-edge sound and lighting technology, ideal for hosting a variety of performances.

A Space Designed for the Arts The Metropolitan Theater arises as a direct response to the need identified in the cultural sector for a medium-capacity space. This dual functionality expands the venue's offerings and helps to establish it as a new and dynamic entertainment center in the Panamanian capital.

Carlos Quintana, who is in charge of the Metropolitan Theater, highlighted at the inauguration that the goal is to offer «a high-quality platform, equipped with cutting-edge technology, that will elevate the level of national theater and serve as a catalyst for the development of works that will inspire and enrich the entire community».

The Rise of Private Theater The opening of the Metropolitan Theater is a testament to the growth and continuous evolution of the private theater sector in Panama. Its addition to the cultural circuit provides a new and significant opportunity for the flourishing of performing arts and cultural production on a national level.

«We joined forces with the objective of establishing a platform that would be accessible to all creative expressions,» said Carlos Quintana.

Complementary Offer and Expansion Beyond its main stage, the Metropolitan Theater features a terrace-bar that serves as an additional space for holding alternative events, such as stand-up comedy shows. Its design and equipment make it ideal for producers, companies, dance academies, and independent artists to hold presentations, conferences, and other forms of artistic expression.

The initiative to create the theater was driven by two visionaries: Carlos Quintana, a show director with a long track record in Panama, and Vilaved Ibarra, known for his deep connection to the arts.
