Panama City Streets Sparkle Clean After Football Festivities

Following the massive celebration of Panama's national soccer team's qualification for the 2026 World Cup, the city's main thoroughfares, such as Calle 50, Avenida Balboa, and the Cinta Costera, were covered in garbage due to the large concentration of Panamanians who gathered to celebrate the historic achievement. To restore their clean and tidy image, a team of 100 collectors from the Urban and Domestic Cleaning Authority (AAUD), along with the support of compactor trucks, four grates, and two mechanical sweepers, worked to clean the area. Work began early Wednesday morning, with the goal of restoring normalcy to these important city roads as soon as possible. In total, approximately 12 tons of waste were collected, including glass bottles, cans, plastics, and papers improperly disposed of by the celebrants.
