Traffic was heavy, especially for those coming from Arraiján, Capira, and Chame heading to the city.

The director of the ATTT reminded that the lane reversal is not a highway for speeding, but a measure to alleviate traffic congestion.

He also reiterated that disorderly driving, using a cell phone, or not respecting regulations remains a direct cause of many crashes.

Today, 33 graduating school caravans authorized by the ATTT are also on the move, a tradition that puts more cars on the street every year.

The first day of the 2026 school year started early... and with a tense traffic jam.

A triple collision on the ascent of the Bridge of the Americas, heading towards the city center, made thousands of drivers break a sweat as they headed to work and to drop off their children at school.

The lane reversal was already in place from 4:00 in the morning.

According to the director of the Transit and Land Transport Authority, Simón Henríquez Díaz, more than 12,000 vehicles had crossed into the capital between 4:00 and 6:00 a.m., and of those, more than 8,000 passed through the Bridge of the Americas.

The traffic was intense from early on.

Social Security ambulances arrived at the scene while Transit Operations Directorate units tried to clear the road.
