To commemorate World Consumer Rights Day, celebrated on Sunday, March 15, the Authority for Consumer Protection and Defense of Competition (Acodeco) has scheduled a series of national activities. For this purpose, on Monday, March 9, the Education Department will hold an informative session on consumer rights and duties through the mobile training unit at the República de Colombia School. Additionally, inspections have been carried out in commercial establishments to ensure compliance with consumer protection regulations. In Panama, Law 45 of October 31, 2007, establishes in its Article 35 the eight fundamental rights of consumers, which are essential for guaranteeing their well-being and protection in the market. On Wednesday, March 11, Acodeco staff will carry out a social activity at the El Buen Samaritano Home in Juan Díaz, delivering personal hygiene and cleaning products, dry foods, and groceries. On Friday, March 13, officials will participate in 'Acodeco en Tu Barrio', distributing informational materials, providing guidance, and explaining how to file complaints for residents of the Nuevo Hipódromo neighborhood in Juan Díaz. Finally, on Sunday, March 15, the Family Fair will take place at the Presidente Remón Racetrack, featuring entrepreneurs, food sales, children's games, and the Acodeco Handicap event. Acodeco's regional agencies will be holding other events in their respective provinces and areas, empowering consumers to know their rights. During this week, consumer rights are being promoted in the media and social networks, trainings are being conducted, and informational brochures are being distributed to consumers and posters to various economic agents about school products exempt from the 7% tax across the country.
