A low-magnitude earthquake was felt just moments ago in various parts of Panama City, causing concern among residents, especially in areas like the Casco Antiguo and capital buildings. According to the Institute of Geosciences of the University of Panama, the quake registered a magnitude of 3.5 and a depth of approximately 62 kilometers, which explains why it was felt lightly but perceptibly in some elevated areas. The event was located about 8 kilometers northeast of Arraiján, according to the first reports from the scientific body. Witnesses stated that the tremor lasted for only a few seconds, describing it as a slight movement that, however, caused alarm due to the uncertainty about what was happening at that moment. So far, there are no reports of material damage or affected people, while authorities maintain monitoring in case of any aftershocks or variations in seismic activity. Experts recall that due to the depth of the earthquake, this type of event tends to be perceived more smoothly on the surface, although it can be felt in tall structures.
