Cleaning Woman Run Over by Bus in Panama Dies

After several days fighting for her life, Eusebia de Suárez, a worker from the Urban and Domestic Cleaning Authority (AAUD), died after being brutally run over by a 'green devil' bus while performing her routine duties in Juan Díaz.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of March 5, right on José Agustín Arango Avenue. Eusebia, with over 25 years of service, had just finished her shift with a colleague and was crossing a pedestrian crossing like any other citizen. In seconds, it all turned into a tragedy: the bus, covering the Vía España–Tanara route, struck them without braking.

The impact was so strong that the bus practically ran over Eusebia. The entire event was captured on security cameras. The driver did not notice the women and continued a few meters after the impact. Both were urgently taken to the hospital, but Eusebia's condition was critical. She suffered serious injuries, including head trauma, but was discharged weeks later, now carrying the memory of the moment that changed her life.

This case once again puts the focus on the constant danger faced by street cleaning workers. Colleagues demand respect, caution behind the wheel, and justice for a woman who went to work like any other day... and did not return.

She had a severe head injury, was operated on to drain blood from her brain, and fell into a coma at the Social Security Hospital Complex. Despite medical efforts, her body could not withstand it and her death was confirmed, leaving her colleagues in mourning, who knew her as one of the city's 'little ants'.

In the midst of the tragedy, the other worker, Yandira Pinto, survived.
