IFF Panamá 2026 Announces Official Programming

The Panama International Film Festival (IFF Panamá) has unveiled its official schedule for the 2026 edition. From April 9-12, under the theme 'Cinema is Life,' the festival will feature a diverse lineup of national and international films, opening and closing galas, and industry-focused events. Screenings will include works by directors like Jayro Bustamante and Abner Benaim.


IFF Panamá 2026 Announces Official Programming

The Organizing Committee of the Panama International Film Festival (IFF Panamá) has officially presented its schedule of activities for IFF Panamá 2026, an event that will take place under the concept «Cinema is Life» from April 9 to 12. The media programming details a varied cinematic offering that includes national and international productions, as well as spaces dedicated to strengthening the audiovisual industry in the region. The festival will kick off on Thursday, April 9, with the «Industry Day,» which will take place at the City of the Arts starting at 09:00. Feature film screenings will formally begin on Friday, April 10, with titles such as «Fast Cash,» directed by Jeico Castro Ferrari, and «Mouse Head» by Martin Proaño. Friday's agenda also includes the presentation of «This Island,» a co-production from Puerto Rico directed by Lorraine Jones and Cristian Carretero. The highlight of the day will be the Opening Gala at the National Theater at 18:00, with the screening of «Runa Simi,» Peru's representative. Weekend programming and main venues On Saturday, April 11, activities will be divided between the City of the Arts and the National Theater. In the morning, «Cordillera de Fuego,» by director Jayro Bustamante (Guatemala), will be screened, followed by «El Canto de las Manos» by María Valverde (Venezuela) and «Saloma» by Miguel I. González (Panama). The Saturday afternoon will feature Panamanian productions such as «In Search of the Rabbit Indian» and «Cautiverio,» as well as the film by Abner Benaim, «Tropical Paradise.» «Sana y Salva» from Puerto Rico and «AKI» from Canada will also be presented. Closing and final screenings The closing of IFF Panamá 2026 will take place on Sunday, April 12. The day will begin at the National Theater with «The Journey of the Kokorrdit,» directed by Guido Bilbao and Elio B. Cunampio. At 16:00, the Closing Gala will be held with the film «Milly: Queen of Merengue.» Finally, the last screening listed in the program will be «Belén,» by director Dolores Fonzi, scheduled for 18:45 at the City of the Arts.
