Panama — Patients and staff at Santo Tomás Hospital were evacuated this morning from the 'White Elephant' building as a precaution after a report of a possible irritating gas in the hemodialysis area, the Fire Department confirmed. Units from the Hazardous Materials (MATPEL) section, the Prehospital Medical Care, Emergencies, and Rescue Service (SAMER), and operational personnel from Station 1 arrived at the medical center to coordinate the preventive evacuation. Operations at the site continue with the aim of ensuring the safety of medical personnel, patients, and nearby areas, the entity detailed. During the intervention, specialized teams conducted measurements and preliminary checks to rule out risks and determine the nature of the incident.
