Experts analyze gender violence in Panama

Panama concluded the 'Science with Conscience' 2025 campaign with a round table on 'Gender Violence in Panama: What Does Science Say?', organized by the National Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Senacyt), the National Research System (SNI AIP), and the International Center for Political and Social Studies (Cieps AIP). The event, held in commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, served as a platform to present evidence, dynamics, gaps, and challenges related to gender-based violence in Panama. Experts, including Dr. Núñez and Dr. Rodríguez, presented key findings on the situation of transgender people and adolescent girls, respectively. They highlighted the need for public policies based on evidence and called on the Ministries of Education and Health to work on preventing violence. Dr. Sharry, the SNI's technical secretary, emphasized the event's importance as a technical, multidisciplinary, and ethical exercise to understand a problem that affects lives and hinders national development.
