The Social Security Fund (CSS) of Panama announced that since its transplant program began in 1990, over 1,400 surgical procedures have been performed. Authorities emphasized that the program's sustained growth reflects both strengthening medical capacity and the increasing need for such procedures in the country. Kidney transplantation continues to lead national statistics with 1,022 procedures performed to date. In 2025 alone, 41 kidney transplants were performed at the City of Health, 17 from living donors and 24 from deceased donors. So far in 2026, four additional procedures have already been conducted.
