Marcela Fernández has been officially appointed as Country President of AstraZeneca in Central America and the Caribbean (CAMCAR). From this new position, she will lead an operation covering 28 territories and a team of over 300 collaborators, with the aim of transforming healthcare, promoting patient well-being, and ensuring that scientific innovation reaches the populations that need it most in the region. Fernández, a Costa Rican national, has more than two decades of experience in the health industry. Prior to this appointment, she led the Andean Region for the company, where she focused on streamlining regulatory processes and consolidating public-private alliances to improve access to advanced therapies. In her new management, she outlines four fundamental axes: an unwavering commitment to patients, environmental and business sustainability, fostering multi-sector alliances, and promoting health equity along with the development of internal talent. Marcela Fernández's vision seeks to integrate the company's global objectives with the local realities of each country. Additionally, work will be done on building an agenda that strengthens regional capabilities through science and the execution of sustainable results. For the new director of AstraZeneca in Central America and the Caribbean, the competitive differential lies in the human team.
