The President of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, received today in a courtesy visit at the Palace of the Herons his counterpart from the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Mohamed Irfaan Ali. During the meeting, both leaders agreed to strengthen bilateral ties in key areas such as cooperation, investment, and security. To turn these intentions into action, Mulino and Irfaan Ali concurred on the need to establish technical work meetings, focused on achieving concrete short and medium-term goals, rather than just remaining in speeches. As a clear sign of rapprochement, President Mulino confirmed that the Embassy of Panama in Guyana will open this same year. Panama also reaffirmed its international role by confirming its entry as a founding member of the Global Alliance for Biodiversity. Both leaders also committed to facilitating mutual participation in business events, such as Expocomer in Panama and the Guyana Energy Conference. This came after an exchange of macroeconomic information, which highlighted the production of natural gas in Guyana and Panama's logistics projects for storing and transporting this product. During the visit, the president's Guyanese team received a detailed update on the projects of the Panama Canal Authority, including two new port terminals and a gas pipeline, key pieces of the country's future logistics.
