President José Raúl Mulino received the credentials of five new ambassadors on Tuesday during a protocol ceremony held at the Palace of the Herons. The event formally accredited the diplomats as representatives in the country. Accompanied by Chancellor Javier Martínez-Acha Vásquez, the head of state welcomed the diplomats and held conversations on topics of bilateral interest, marking the official start of their functions on the isthmus. The first to be received was Giuditta Giorgio, Ambassador of Italy in Panama. This was followed by Orestes Pérez Pérez, Ambassador of Cuba in Panama, and Messaoud Mehila, representative of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria in the country. The ceremony concluded with the presentations of Eija Rotinen, Ambassador of Finland, resident in Colombia and concurrent in Panama, and Lenka Pokorná, Ambassador of the Czech Republic, also concurrent from Colombia.
