Panama positions itself as the epicenter of the international environmental dialogue by hosting the Annual Euroclima Meeting 2026. These conversations are fundamental for preparing the international milestones of 2026, charting the strategic path towards COP31. The Ambassador of the European Union to Panama, Izabela Matusz, emphasized that unity between regions is a necessity to strengthen community resilience and protect global biodiversity. In turn, the Minister of the Environment, Juan Carlos Navarro, pointed out that the choice of Panama as the host venue reflects the international confidence in the country as a platform to build the 'green alliances of the future.' This high-level event brings together government delegates, international organizations, and financial entities from Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean with the purpose of expanding bi-regional cooperation spaces and exchanging experiences on public climate policies. The meeting is jointly organized by the Ministry of the Environment (MiAMBIENTE) and the European Union, through its Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) and the Delegation in Panama. During the sessions, eight strategic areas will be addressed, including sustainable mobility, water management, circular economy, and climate finance, under the Team Europe approach. In the framework of this event, Juan Carlos Monterrey, special representative on climate change in Panama, highlighted that nature is the central axis of national development. Panama is advancing through the Nature Pledge, a roadmap that integrates ocean protection, plastic reduction, and waste management into a common vision of sustainable development aligned with international agreements. The Euroclima 2026 Annual Meeting is being attended by 33 nations and representatives of the European Commission. The initiative aligns with the Global Gateway strategy, aimed at promoting a just and green transition through equitable partnerships and sustainability standards.
