The Ministry of Environment (MiAMBIENTE) has strengthened its technical capacity for analysis and environmental oversight by incorporating new professionals, monitoring methodologies, and advanced scientific tools. As a scientific innovation, MiAMBIENTE has implemented biomonitoring using aquatic macroinvertebrates, which serve as bioindicators to comprehensively assess the ecological quality of water bodies. These tools are currently being applied in high-impact projects across the country. On the Pan-American Highway East, aspects such as slope stability, erosion control, ecological connectivity, and wildlife passages are being verified. At the Cobre Panama mine, multidisciplinary teams conduct periodic inspections to assess infrastructure stability, water system management, and biodiversity monitoring. At the FCC quarry (West Panama), inspections focus on controlling dust emissions, managing industrial waste, using explosives, and the operation of sedimentation ponds. The strengthening of MiAMBIENTE's technical capabilities ensures that environmental supervision is based on verifiable data and scientific methodologies, promoting a preventive and transparent management of the country's natural resources.
