Panama - A residence located in the Pueblo Nuevo district, Panama district, was raided this Friday by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office as part of an investigation into embezzlement against the National Council for Sustainable Development (Conades) for breach of contract. In the home, owned by one of the entity's contractors, Prosecutor's Office personnel, together with units from the Judicial Investigation Directorate (DIJ) and the National Police, collected key evidence for the investigation. The case investigation was initiated after, between 2016 and 2018, the contracting company was awarded a project for the construction of 86 sanitary units and 4 special units for people with disabilities, in the María Chiquita district, Portobelo district, in the province of Colón. However, the project was not executed, which represented an economic impact to the State of approximately $85,000.
