Panama - A man has been provisionally detained for being charged with the crime of aggravated intentional homicide against a minor under 15 years of age, which occurred on April 14, 2022, in the Juan Díaz district. During the multiple request hearings, the Public Ministry presented the procedural risks that justify the precautionary measure, among which are the possible affectation of evidence, the danger that the accused poses to the community, as well as the serious nature of the fact investigated. The Guarantees Court admitted the charge and ordered the provisional detention, attending to the seriousness of the case and the need to protect the investigation. The preliminary investigation carried out by the Homicide and Femicide Section of the Metropolitan Prosecutor's Office established that on April 14, 2022, the accused, along with another person, shot the teenager, causing him serious injuries and, although he fought for his life for weeks, he finally died on May 29, 2022, at Santo Tomás Hospital.
