Panama has officially opened the High-Performance Center named after Luis 'Matador' Tejada. This sports facility will be a major boost for Panamanian sports. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the footballer's family, high-ranking officials including Minister of the Presidency Juan Carlos Orillac and Director of Pandeportes Miguel Ordóñez Jr., as well as other sports personalities like the head coach of the Panama national football team, Thomas Christiansen. President José Raúl Mulino stated that the center fulfills a long-standing debt and provides concrete support to Panamanian talent in world-class facilities, ensuring that sporting development is accompanied by the State. Mulino added that this new 'home of Panamanian sport', named after a national idol, invites everyone to work together with dedication and effort to achieve the proposed goals. The Luis Tejada Center covers over 18,000 square meters of indoor construction and 76,000 square meters of outdoor areas. It includes an administrative building with rehabilitation and sports medicine clinics, a physical training gym, an athletes' hotel, a multipurpose sports building, specialized centers for gymnastics and combat sports, an aquatic center with an Olympic pool, an athletics track, and a FIFA-standard football field. It is noted that this infrastructure will be used for various sports during the 4th South American Youth Games, held in Panama from April 12 to 25.
