The mayor of Pedasí, Miguel Batista, stated that they are seeking funding to carry out drilling in Pedasí and in the district of Los Asientos, but they want these wells to provide enough water to alleviate the problem affecting the district.
The mayor indicated that the proposal presents a different approach from the one used previously, as historically many wells built for public service have not yielded the expected results, showing low performance or running dry during the dry season.
“IDAAN has built wells for public service for years, with the result that some do not work or have very low performance and end up running out in the summer,” he pointed out.
Faced with this reality, Batista called on the owners of farms or land within the district to allow explorations to be carried out on their properties to determine if there are water sources that can be used for the supply system.
“To all those people who own land in Pedasí, allow us to explore possible water sources on their properties. If positive, allow the construction of the well and the segregation of the land to be transferred to IDAAN,” he explained.
The mayor detailed that they currently have an allocation for the construction of three new wells in Pedasí head town and two in the district of Los Asientos, which would allow reinforcing the water distribution system in the district.
The district of Pedasí, recognized for its tourist appeal in the province of Los Santos, faces a growing problem of drinking water supply that affects both residents and tourism. This situation has motivated local authorities to promote new initiatives to find sustainable solutions.
In this scenario, the mayor of Pedasí, Miguel Batista, announced a strategy that seeks the support of landowners within the district to identify possible water sources that allow for the drilling of new wells and thus alleviate the crisis the community is going through. According to the mayor, the initiative seeks to manage resources to carry out new drilling in both the Pedasí head town area and the Los Asientos district.
“We want to take this opportunity to seek that citizen support.”
