Today in Santiago de Veraguas, the Clausura 2026 of the Panamanian Football League (LPF) will begin. Veraguas United and Club Deportivo Universitario will face off at the Aristocles 'Toco' Castillo stadium. The match, part of the Western Conference, is scheduled to kick off at 8:30 PM.
In the first round of the LPF, other matches will also be played tomorrow, Saturday: Herrera vs. Club Atlético Independiente (CAI) of La Chorrera at 4:00 PM; San Francisco FC vs. Unión Coclé at the Agustín Muquita Sánchez stadium at 6:15 PM; and Plaza Amador vs. Sporting San Miguelito at the COS Sports Plaza at 8:30 PM.
On Sunday, January 18, Alianza FC will face Tauro at 7:15 PM at the Rommel Fernández stadium, and Umecit will face Árabe Unido de Colón at 8:30 PM at the Agustín Muquita Sánchez stadium.
As in previous seasons, the LPF tournament is divided into the Eastern and Western conferences. The Eastern Conference is made up of the clubs Alianza FC, Plaza Amador, Árabe Unido, Sporting San Miguelito, Tauro FC, and Umecit.
The Western Conference consists of the teams CAI, Club Deportivo Universitario, Herrera FC, San Francisco FC, Unión Coclé, and Veraguas United.
According to the competition format, two full rounds of all-play-all will be played within each conference, plus one inter-conference round, totaling 16 games.
