The Cabinet Council approved three decrees that grant the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) the possibility to access financing mechanisms. Among the approved measures is the authorization for the National Bank of Panama (Banconal) to grant a credit line to the MEF totaling 500 million balboas for each fiscal period, from the year 2025 to 2029.

This credit line will allow the MEF to have significant financial backing to carry out its responsibilities over the next five years. The measure has been taken into account considering the current economic landscape and aimed at providing strength and stability to the financial sector of the country.

In the words of the Minister of Economy and Finance, this decision is crucial to ensure the proper functioning of public finances and the fulfillment of the State’s obligations. It is also highlighted that the support provided by Banconal will be fundamental for the development of infrastructure projects and social programs for the benefit of the Panamanian population.

"Having this credit line represents great support for the financial management of the Ministry in the coming years. It will allow us to maintain economic stability and ensure the fulfillment of our goals and commitments," the Minister expressed. The approval of these decrees represents a significant step in strengthening public finances and medium-term economic planning in Panama.
