The Consumer Protection and Competition Defense Authority (Acodeco) conducted the first physical inventory of rice in the year 2025. This process revealed that premium rice was not listed among the products under price control.
According to Acodeco, the inventory was carried out in warehouses and stores, where the quantity and quality of products were verified. During this inspection, it was found that premium rice was not subject to price regulations, raising concerns among the population.
"It is important to ensure that essential products are included in price controls to protect consumers' wallets," said the Acodeco representative. This omission for premium rice could impact the population's access to a basic and fundamental food in the daily diet.
In light of this situation, Acodeco announced that necessary actions will be taken to include premium rice in the list of products under price control, ensuring accessibility for all consumers.
