The Dutch company is under investigation by the Public Ministry for allegedly evading millions of dollars in taxes. Panama's Minister of Economy and Finance, Héctor Alexander, ordered the cancellation of an extension granted to the European shipping company in question.
According to Alexander, the decision to revoke the extension is based on the company's failure to fulfill commitments made to the Panamanian state. The company had requested an extension of this tax benefit, but after the investigation, it was determined that it had not met the required conditions.
The minister explained that this measure is part of the country's policy of transparency and compliance with tax laws. He also mentioned that actions like this send a clear message that Panama will not tolerate practices that seek to evade tax payments.
For their part, representatives of the shipping company have stated that they are willing to cooperate with the authorities in the investigation and have expressed their commitment to fulfilling their tax obligations in Panama.
