President Mulino meets with affected suppliers

The president of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, met with suppliers affected by the closure of Minera Panamá. Many face economic difficulties and have laid off employees.

The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, met this Monday with a group of suppliers from the former Minera Panamá, who are facing economic difficulties. These difficulties have led to layoffs and a reduction in operations in some companies, while others struggle to stay afloat and avoid permanent closure.

The group of suppliers, represented by heavy machinery companies, vehicle rental services, and suppliers of materials, expressed to the president the situation they have been going through since the mine's closure and how it has affected them economically.

During the meeting, the suppliers shared with President Mulino the decline in sales and the high debts they have accumulated. All of this is a result of the termination of the contract with Minera Panamá in the previous administration, which has left the sector in a critical situation.

Also present at the meeting were the ministers of the Presidency and Trade and Industries, Juan Carlos Orillac and Julio Molto, respectively. The dialogue between the president and the affected suppliers sought to find possible solutions to support this sector hit hard by the closure of the copper mine.
