After Panamá Pacifico Construction (PPC) secured its rights to operate in the shared profit ports of Balboa and Colón, the company has now encountered competition from similar players. This advantageous position led global port operators to express interest in developing transshipment ports on both coasts of the Isthmus.
One of the operators stated: "We want to actively participate in healthy and sustainable competition that benefits the economy of Panama by contributing our knowledge and technology to a key sector for the country's economic growth."
In this way, PPC, which previously won the privatization of ballast terminals on the territory of Balboa and Colón, now faces competition from global players in this sector.
