The Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA), the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), and the Embassy of Argentina have joined forces with the goal of improving corn production in Panama. This initiative began with a cooperation meeting that marks the start of a series of training sessions to be held in the Azuero region.
During the meeting, the importance of strengthening the technical capacities of Panamanian producers was highlighted to boost corn production in the country. Topics such as good agricultural practices, integrated pest and disease management, and technologies to increase productivity in corn crops were discussed.
According to MIDA, Panama has great potential to increase corn production and reduce dependence on imports. With the collaboration of IICA and the Embassy of Argentina, it is expected to provide producers with the necessary tools to enhance the quality and quantity of corn production in the country.
In the words of a representative from MIDA: "This strategic alliance will allow us to work hand in hand with international experts to transfer knowledge and technologies that contribute to the sustainable development of corn agriculture in Panama."
