The Naturgy management team held a high-level meeting with the President of the Republic of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, during which it had the opportunity to reaffirm the company's long-term commitment to Panama, a country where it manages 70% of the electricity distribution, with over 30,000 kilometers of network in the national territory. The President of Naturgy, Francisco Reynés, recalled that since the company's arrival in Panama, Naturgy has made investments of more than 1.6 billion dollars, aimed at improving service quality, reinforcing the electricity distribution network, and developing renewable generation projects. Since 1998, Naturgy has consolidated itself as a partner for Panama's progress, where it manages 70% of the electricity distribution networks and has 94 substations, with the goal of ensuring supply to around eight hundred thousand users, served through its more than sixty customer service centers distributed throughout the country. The investments made and those planned in Naturgy's Strategic Plan represent a positive impact on improving service quality for customers and a significant contribution to the country's economic development, translated into the generation of more than 3,000 direct and indirect jobs, with a highly skilled workforce in the use of new technologies. This search for excellence in electricity supply is combined with the promotion of technological solutions that benefit Panamanian society and contribute to environmental protection, promoting a cleaner and more sustainable energy future for the country. This meeting with President Mulino reaffirms Naturgy's commitment to continue improving the quality of service offered to its customers. Naturgy Panama is the largest electricity distributor, with the most customers and covering the largest part of the territory of the Republic of Panama. On Naturgy's side, Pedro Larrea, General Director of Networks; Jordi Garcia Tabernero, General Director of Public Affairs and Sustainability; Sebastián Pérez, country manager of Naturgy Panama; and José García Sanleandro, president of the Board of Directors of EDEMET and EDECHI attended. This meeting reaffirms the company's commitment to Panama, where it works on the continuous improvement of service quality, maintenance of the existing network, and expansion of customer service infrastructure. This is the largest loan signed by the EIB for a private company project in Central America. Francisco Reynés highlighted that “Panamá can count on Naturgy as a strategic partner in the country's energy development. Additionally, Naturgy's 2025-2027 Strategic Plan foresees investments of over 500 million dollars in Panama to continue advancing the strengthening of the electricity supply in its concession area. In the same week, the company signed a 300 million dollar (approximately 260 million euros) framework loan with the European Investment Bank (EIB) to support the modernization and expansion of the electricity distribution networks. Our commitment is long-term and is aligned with the country's objectives, contributing to the well-being of citizens and economic growth”. Felipe Chapman, Minister of Economy and Finance of Panama, and the Administrator General of ASEP, Zelmar Rodríguez Crespo, were also present at the meeting. This meeting with President Mulino reinforces our willingness to continue working closely with the authorities to ensure a safe, efficient, and sustainable electricity supply. Our goal is to continue driving investments that strengthen service quality, network modernization, and the incorporation of technological solutions that result in an improvement in electricity supply.
