Panama has launched the Listo Wallet, a digital wallet designed to streamline access to government subsidies, scholarships, and aid. Registration takes just 5 minutes and can be done via a mobile app or website. To log in, users need their national ID number (cédula) and a 4-digit PIN. The wallet supports biometric authentication via fingerprint or facial recognition and geolocation for enhanced security. Key features include checking balances, receiving direct deposits, paying at stores via QR code, and transferring funds to a bank account. As part of the national Panamá Digital initiative, Listo Wallet is already used by over 660,000 Panamanians to receive benefits like the PASE-U scholarships and Vale Digital subsidies.
"Listo Wallet is a free digital platform launched in 2022 as part of the Panamá Digital initiative. Developed by the Authority for Government Innovation (AIG) in partnership with the National Bank of Panama, Listo Wallet is the backbone of programs like PASE-U (University Student Social Assistance Program), Beca Digital, and Vale Digital."
"Registration is straightforward and takes less than 5 minutes. It requires a valid national ID card and an internet connection. Once on the website, select 'Citizen' as the user type. Log in through the Panamá Digital system using your biometric data (fingerprint or facial scan via the app). Enter your personal details, including full name, date of birth, address, and phone number. Create a 4-digit PIN and confirm it. Upon successful registration, you will be redirected to a dashboard where you can view your balance."
