In the province of Los Santos, the Authority for Consumer Protection and Defense of Competition (Acodeco) seized over 15 thousand expired products during operations carried out between January and October of this year. The finding reflects a worrying number of irregularities in the region's commercial establishments, affecting consumer rights. In total, 15,206 products with expired dates were confiscated, among which stand out food, medicines, and other basic consumer goods. Other anomalies found include: 180 products in poor condition; 66 products with illegible or unclear expiration dates; 22 products with duplicate prices. In addition to expired products, Acodeco detected the improper use of 25-pound gas cylinders in 55 establishments, putting consumer safety at risk. The misuse of this product and failure to adhere to the set price ceiling were also noted. The authority stated that despite efforts to ensure compliance with regulations, some merchants in the province continue to violate consumer protection laws.
