Panama's President discusses next year's minimum wage

Panama's President José Raúl Mulino commented on minimum wage negotiations, stating that if no agreement is reached, the decision will be his. Workers are demanding $900.

President José Raúl Mulino mentioned that he is satisfied with the progress of the minimum wage discussion for the next year. Although the head of state did not venture to set an amount for this remuneration, he indicated that if an agreement is not reached by the end of the year, the constitutional mandate will be fulfilled, meaning the decision will be in his hands. "I don't want to get to that point, I believe there is room for good negotiations and a calm conversation as I understand is the one that is being carried out now," the president expressed. He mentioned that the Minister of Labor and Labor Development, Jackeline Muñoz, informed him that Wednesday's meeting proceeded normally. Workers are requesting that the minimum wage be set at 900 dollars.
