Panamanian police, in 'Operation Nafta II', arrested two suspects for forging a check for nearly half a million dollars. The economic damage is estimated at $490,211.

The National Police, through the Directorate of Judicial Investigation and in partnership with the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, conducted Operation Nafta II to gather evidence and apprehend more suspects in an investigation for crimes against the public administration in the form of embezzlement, against public faith in the form of document forgery, and against the economic order in the form of money laundering.

Four search and seizure warrants were executed in the districts of Tocumen, 24 de Diciembre, Don Bosco, and the El Crisol area, resulting in the apprehension of two individuals.

This investigation accounts for an economic injury of $490,211.30, following the alleged forgery of a check for this amount, which was subsequently deposited and transferred to several accounts.

Several pieces of evidence were seized, which will be submitted to the investigation. The apprehended individuals were placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
