Alfredo Burgos, National Director of Mineral Resources of Panama, announced that the first results of the comprehensive audit of the Panama Copper Mine project will be known in early December. Burgos stated that starting from that date, monthly reports on the progress of the audit will be delivered. Regarding employment, he expressed confidence that they will reach the initial levels. However, he highlighted that currently, more than 2,000 workers are hired as part of the audit and the safe management plan. The multinational company SGS, a world leader in audit, inspection, and certification services, is in charge of conducting the comprehensive audit of the Panama Copper Mine under a contract for B/.539,791.46. Among the commitments assumed by SGS is the conduct of this audit with a structured, detailed, and organized approach, ensuring that auditors pay special attention to critical areas in terms of labor, social, environmental, and operational management of the project. Additionally, it is expected that the audit will be fully reviewed and finalized by next February, providing key information on how the project has developed to make informed decisions. Regarding the resumption of mining activity and job generation, Burgos noted that it will take time because the equipment and machinery have been paralyzed for a year and a half.
