According to surveys conducted by the Authority for Consumer Protection and Competition Defense (Acodeco) in several supermarkets in the districts of Juan Díaz, Bella Vista, Santa Ana, Calidonia, and Pueblo Nuevo, the approximate cost of a Christmas dinner for four people depends on the choice of protein or meat and can vary according to the tastes and preferences of each family. In Santa Ana and Calidonia, the approximate costs are B/.74.37 (ham); B/.74.86 (turkey); B/.63.35 (turkey-chicken) and B/.54.85 (chicken). In Juan Díaz, with about 10 pounds of these proteins (meats), the Christmas dinner costs: with ham B/.75.49; with turkey B/.65.65; with turkey-chicken B/.63.83 and with chicken B/.56.53. While in Bella Vista, the lowest approximate costs are: B/.83.18 (ham); B/.85.10 (turkey); B/.70.15 (turkey-chicken); B/.65.05 (chicken). In Pueblo Nuevo: B/.96.85 (ham); B/.75.82 (turkey); B/.74.73 (turkey-chicken) and B/.66.83 (chicken). Among the 25 products whose prices were monitored are: 33-ounce nutless sweet bread; mixed nuts (400 g); fruit candy (14 oz); olives (7 oz); capers (7 oz); rice (5 pounds); can of guandú (15 oz.); 1 pound of potatoes; 1 pound of onion; 1 dozen eggs; apples, grapes and pears (one pound each); rum punch (750 ml.) and sliced pineapple (20 oz). Surveys carried out by the Authority for Consumer Protection and Competition Defense (Acodeco), in some supermarkets in the districts of Juan Díaz, Bella Vista, Santa Ana, Calidonia and Pueblo Nuevo, indicate that the approximate cost of the Christmas dinner for four people depends on the type of protein or meat to be chosen. The same may vary, according to the tastes and preferences of each family. Acodeco has designed a basic Christmas dinner to give the consumer an idea of the budget needed. According to Acodeco, these monitoring will continue in other sectors of the capital and in the provinces, and will be published on the Acodeco website as soon as the results are available.
