Panama City, Panama: The third draw of the Fiscal Lottery, an initiative promoted by the General Directorate of Revenue (DGI) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), was held this Thursday, December 30, with a total of $110,000 in prizes distributed among participating consumers. Three million tax receipts were submitted for this draw. The program, created to promote tax compliance and combat tax evasion, aims to reward taxpayers who request receipts when making purchases or contracting services. The envelopes were deposited in mailboxes nationwide. In addition to the children tasked with mixing the envelopes in the pool, adults were also allowed to help due to the large number of envelopes involved. This practice was questioned by some taxpayers who witnessed the drawing, who claimed that the envelopes at the bottom were not counted.
