MOP defends Corridor of the Beaches bidding process

The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) defended the bidding process for the 'Corridor of the Beaches' and the 'Campana Variant', stating that it was carried out openly and in compliance with the law.

The entity explained that the bidding process for the expansion of the El Espino–Sajalices stretch was public, transparent, and adjusted to the norms, as required by the Public Procurement Law. The participating companies, according to the MOP, met all legal, technical, and financial requirements without improvisations or hidden advantages.

The reference price set by the MOP was B/. 228.4 million, B/. 37 million less than in the previous tender, a figure that, according to the institution, represents a more efficient use of public money.

Another point highlighted by the ministry is that the claim period expired without anyone objecting to the process, a sign that the rules were clear and accepted by the participants. The project will be awarded in the coming days, following the steps marked by the law.

Two proposals were submitted to the event. The I&C Campana Consortium, made up of Ininco, S.A. and Constructora Urbana, S.A. (CUSA), presented an offer of B/. 265.3 million, while Constructora MECO, S.A. put B/. 250 million on the table.

The MOP insists that there is nothing under the table, and that this strategic work for the country is advancing with transparency, responsibility, and respect for the rules, as people demand when it comes to millions that come out of everyone's pockets.
