Amid the constant questioning that surrounds large construction projects, the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) stepped forward to clarify that the bidding process for the Corredor de las Playas and the Variante de Campana was conducted openly, without shortcuts, and in strict compliance with the law. The MOP insists that there is nothing under the table and that this strategic project for the country is advancing with transparency, responsibility, and respect for the norms, as the public demands when it comes to millions coming from everyone's pockets. The MOP also pointed out that the claims period expired without anyone objecting to the process, a sign that the rules were clear and accepted by the participants. The contract amount will be $228.4 million. The project will be awarded in the coming days, following the steps mandated by law. The participating companies, according to the MOP, met all legal, technical, and financial requirements without improvisation or hidden advantages. The MOP explained that the best value selection process for the El Espino–Sajalices expansion was public, transparent, and in accordance with the norms as required by the Public Procurement Law. The I&C Campana Consortium, made up of Ininco, S.A. and Constructora Urbana, S.A. (CUSA), presented an offer of $228.4 million. This is $37 million less than the figure set by the MOP, which, according to the institution, represents a more efficient use of public funds. The MOP's reference price was $265.3 million, while Constructora MECO, S.A. put forward $250 million, and two proposals attended the event.
