The mayor of San Miguelito, Irma Hernández, stated that there was no increase in the garbage collection fee. This clarification is necessary so that people know what they are paying for and why. A month after REVISALUD issued a notice that caused many residents to scrutinize their electricity bill, the San Miguelito City Council came forward on social media to calm the waters. "There is no increase in the garbage collection fee," said Mayor Irma Hernández following the confusion caused by the December 2025 billing. It all began when the company in charge of sanitation announced via a press release that the December ENSA bill would include the garbage collection fee for that month, as well as the first 18 days of January 2026, as REVISALUD will only provide the service until January 18. This advance payment is what set off alarms in the community. Amid the online buzz and comments about a possible rate hike, the mayor explained that what occurred was an advance payment, not a fee increase. "It is a notice that is valid until January 18, which informs the community that those 18 days of January were charged in the December bill," she stated. However, Hernández also said that they do not agree with this type of practice and that the local administration is vigilant to ensure that such situations do not repeat themselves in the future.
