During the first week of January, IFARHU made waves with news for students nationwide. Through educational loans and the General Scholarship Contest 2026, the institution received 139 applications and funding inquiries at its Educational Credit Directorate, indicating that young people and families continue to seek support for their studies.

But that's not all: the agency clarified that foreigners with over 10 years of residency in Panama are also eligible for the scholarship contest, provided they submit a certification from the National Migration Service proving their legal residence in the country.

The contest is open to students in primary, pre-media, and secondary education at both public and private institutions, as well as those pursuing bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees at public universities.

All applicants must meet the program's regulations and academic requirements: a minimum GPA of 4.2/5.0 for primary, pre-media, and secondary students, and 2.0/3.0 for university students.

Scholarship registration will be open until January 23, 2026, and must be completed digitally through the portal https://www.ifarhuconcurso.gob.pa/. Applicants will need to fill out a form with their personal, academic, and socioeconomic information.

IFARHU also announced the scholarship amounts:

Primary education (from second grade): B/.45.00 monthly. Pre-media: B/.55.00 Secondary: B/.65.00 Bachelor's degree at public universities: B/.125.00 monthly throughout the program. Postgraduate and master's degrees: Covers tuition and credit costs, excluding additional services like insurance or cafeteria plans.
