The new drinking water supply system project for the districts of Palmas Bellas, Nuevo Chagres, Salud, and Piña, in the Chagres district, Costa Abajo de Colón, has reached 75% completion, reported Luis Ortega, representative of the Palmas Bellas Consortium. Among the most significant advances is the completion of the main storage tank, as well as the start of assembly of a second tank. This is complemented by the installation of four vertical filtration tanks, pumping chambers, treatment tanks, laboratory areas, and the Lagarto River intake system, key components to ensure a safe and continuous supply of drinking water. On-site, work is being carried out on rainwater piping and land compaction, essential tasks for the stability and durability of the infrastructure. In the coming days, the asphalt layer will be laid from the project entrance to the water treatment plant, in addition to preparing with select material on the access road from the town. This project represents a crucial preparatory stage for the modernization of the water system in the region, with a direct impact on improving the quality of drinking water service for the beneficiary communities and for institutional projects under development.
